just before two this morning.

Diana Lynn Blaney of Roanoke.
Police say Blaney had been hit by a
vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital, where
she later died.
Investigators are calling the *hit and
run* a homicide.

Two well known armies gathered in
Appomatox to relive the Civil War
experience and present a living
portrayal of history to the public.

Thousands of re-enactors and even
more spectators came together to
remember the 140th anniversary of the
Confederate army's surrender to Union
forces.
For the re-enactors, events like
this one give them the opportunity to
dive head first into history.

was buried alive.

confessed to killing Lundsford -- told
investigators the nine year old was

Sources say investigators are still

Couey's confession.

The sheriff has said Couey had been
using drugs -- and his timeline may

held its 49th annual International
Street Fair today.
The fair drew-in more than
seven-thousand participants --
including more than 50 organizations.
This year's fair also promoted the
"Hokies United" relief fund for victims
of the Southeast Asia tsunami.
C-I-S-O is working with Hokies United
to try and collect 100-thousand dollars
toward the rebuilding efforts.

Virginia Tech students and all those

Roanoke Catholic.
The school's sale brings-in revenue for
building projects around campus.
But, the event wasn't JUST about
raising money for the school.
Not only do the proceeds benefit the
school, unsold items are donated to the
Rescue Mission.

the American Cancer Society.
The *parent volunteers* hoped to raise
around five thousand dollars at this
afternoon's event and have plenty of

ENG#=1 Bobby Labonte became just the 12th
driver to win a race in all three of
Nascar's national series. Labonte is
the first to win at the same track in
all three, taking the checkered flag in
today's Kroger 250 truck race at
Martinsville.

thousand packed the grandstands with
sunscreen in hand for the truck show.
Each and every one got their
money's worth.
There was plenty of beatin and
bangin in this one. Just three laps
in, Brad Keselowski bumps Timothy
Peters and the pinball game was on in
turn one to bring out the first of 11
cautions.
It was a good run for Danville's
Peters who finished 18th. Wytheville's
Tam Topham was 34th today.
Todd Bodine led the most laps,
out front for 74 circuits but he pitted
for tires late and would up 4th.

Bobby Hamilton barely maintained that
points lead after a late race spin cost
him a top ten finish.
Labonte led 64 laps and he was
out front when it counted going to
victory lane for the very first time in
the truck series holding off Ricky
Craven for the checkers.

Richmond Riverdogs took on the Motor
City Mechanics, but the game had to
take a back seat to the naming of the
new Roanoke hockey franchise. A crowd
of close to 4 thousand looked on as
U-H-L Commisoner Richard Brosal and the
franchise owners Ken and Kristen Dixon
annouced the new name of the Roanoke
Valley Vipers. The teams new colors

Brandie Phillilps, an 18-year-old
senior spent a year making the dress
and wore it Saturday night to prom.
She says she got the idea when some of
her girlfriends were talking about the

Phillips says family, friends and
classmates helped her eat all the
starbursts needed for the dress.
