The NCAA has taken the first step
in allowing Division One and Division
One Double A schools to play 12
football games each season.

If given final approval the plan
would begin next year with the 2006
season. The NCAA Board of Directors has
the final word on April 28. The ACC
opposed the 12th game idea because the
member schools felt it interfered with
academics - saying the season already
is long enough.
