draft of their final recommendation to
city council.
Among the suggestions, tear down
Victory Stadium and build a new
facility on Reserve Avenue.
The committee is also

day stadiums at the city's two high
schools.
The committee will present its final
report to city council May 2nd.

Authorities say 21 year old Herman
Lee Estes of Bassett shot two brothers
early this morning outside a

The animal was rescued this
afternoon, after being trapped 60-feet
up a tree for five days.
The community rallied after we
told you last night how local officials
said they couldn't do anything for the
cat and that it would eventually come
down on its own.
After a failed attempt by an
arborist, a bucket truck was able to
reach the animal and retrieve it.

Lord Botetourt's Katie Sloan, the
Blue Ridge district and Region Three
player of the year has decided to play
her college volleyball at Lenoir Rhyne
in Hickory, North Carolina.
Sloan had 199 kills, 82 blocks
and 27 aces this past season for the
Cavs as she earned second team
all-state honors.
Lenoir Rhyne is a member of the
South Atlantic conference in division

at the Jackson Zoo in Mississippi.
Poff started at Mill Mountain as
a keeper in 1980 and became director in
1986.
She helped the zoo achieve its
first accreditation with the American

collection about ten years ago upon
