The Lynchburg Health Department
notified school officials Monday of the
diagnoses ... letters went home Tuesday
afternoon at both Linkhorne and Bedford
Hills letting parents know what's going
on.

A similar situation last winter
involving a tuberculosis case in
Amherst County last fall required all
the students and faculty to be tested

The school board recently voted to
close the Blue Ridge Technical Academy
at its current location.
Students would take similar classes
next school year, but at the city's two
high schools.
Last night, the school board voted to
appoint a committee to find ways to
keep the school open.
Parents and students also turned up
in large numbers to say the school is
invaluable.

news last night about discipline
problems in the schools.
Incidents are down 34-percent from
this time last year.
Administrators cite several reasons
including youth court at the high
schools, better conflict mediation at
the middle schools, and a new gang
intervention program at the elementary
level.
This news comes two years after the
school system was criticized for
undereporting crime in the schools.

separate courts of law.

Rudolph agreed to a plea deal allowing
in to avoid the death penalty for fatal
bombings at the Atlanta Olympics and an
abortion clinic in Birmingham.
As a part of the deal he revealed the
whereabouts of several stashes of

consecutive life terms instead of the
possibility of a death sentence if
judges accept the deal.

bacterial meningitis in two seperate
schools.

The affected children are from the same
family. One attends Linkhorne Middle
School, the other at Bedford Hills
Elementary.
The Lynchburg Health Department
notified school officials Monday.
Letters went home Tuesday afternoon at
both Linkhorne and Bedford Hills
letting parents know what's going on.
Because the risk is low, health
officials are not recommending that
anyone at either school be given any
kind of preventative medicines.
For now, officials feel they can just
monitor the situation.

bombings in the 1990s.

bombings at the Atlanta Olympics and an

Lynchburg. The affected children are

say the risk of anyone else catching it
is very low.

board recently voted to close the Blue
