condition -- while police say more

charges could be in store for the man
who they say shot her.

The shooting happened Wednesday
night in front of this home in Clayton
Estates.

Police say a 14 year old girl and
28 year old Michael Paul Collins had a
relationship.

They say the girl's mother was
confronting Collins when he opened fire
and then ran.

After an all night search, police
say they got a tip he was hiding inside
this home on Cedar Hill Drive.

convenience store clerk will testify
against the woman. The four have
entered guilty pleas in connection with
last years robbery of an Amherst County
convenience store.

for two men involved in a home invasion
and armed robbery early this morning.

Police were called to the 400
block of Parker Road on the Northside
of the city around 2:30.

They say two men forced their way
into a home with a handgun and demanded
money. They left with cash and jewelry.
No one was injured.

Trinity Road collapsed because of
sinkhole.

Just before 8 last night the hole
was 40 to 50 feet deep and getting
deeper.

VDOT officials say a water company
was drilling close by and that may have
caused the road to collapse.

watching over Virginia's state capitol
for more than two centuries.

But yesterday his statue was
covered up.

Art experts first covered the
famous rendering with plastic.

A wooden box was then constructed
and carefully installed.

It's all an effort to protect the
statue while the inside of the capitol
is renovated.

Other capitol art pieces have
already been covered or moved out.

The Washington sculpture was
deliberately saved for last.

Next week, a heating and cooling
system will be installed under the box.


The sculpture will remain covered
until January of 2007 when the capitol
re- opens.
