drug operation in the New River Valley
pled guilty today.

others were arrested last summer and
charged with distributing crack
cocaine, illegally possessing and using
firearms and assaulting witnesses.

plea today after the testimony of nine
witnesses.

Authorities believe Lighty and his
group distributed as much as 10-million
dollars worth of cocaine since November
of 1999.

Lighty faces at least forty years in

High School.

Board is investigating this morning's
fatal school bus crash in Arlington.

A nine-year old girl was killed and
fourteen others injured when the bus
collided head-on with a garbage truck
at a busy intersection.

Students attended kinderagarten
through fifth grade.

Police say the bus was trying to
make a left turn when it hit the truck.

Both drivers and one child were
hospitalized in critical condition.

The other injured children were
treated for minor injuries and

released.

Officials won't speculate on which
driver may have been at fault, however
they do say speed was not a factor.

is suspended after allegedly assaulting
an eleven-year old girl with a knife on
a school bus.

Bus number sixty-nine was heading
toward Collierstown Friday afternoon,
when the victim was cut on her neck and
forearm.

She did not require medical
attention and was back in class at
Maury River Middle School today.

The alleged assailant was held over
the weekend and was released into his
mother's custody this morning.

He's been suspended indefinitely
while school officials investigate.


It's unclear what prompted the
attack.

The freak 7-story wave hit the
Norwegian Dawn as it traveled back to
