They have retired for the night
and will return to the chapel for two
more rounds of voting in the morning.

Their secret deliberations began
late this afteroon.

As they sent up black smoke to
indicate a decision had yet to be
reached, there was confusion in St.
Peter's Square.

Many spectators thought the smoke
was white, a signal that a new pope had
been named.

The event is non alcoholic and
held on campus for several hours.

As you can see from these
pictures students mainly sit outside
and listen to music.

But many students take the whole
weekend to celebrate the spring time.

These are pictures from Fairfax
street, where police say the had the
most trouble.

They had to call in help from
Pulaski County and State Police to
control the crowd.

Officers say at one point at
least two thousand people were on the
Fairfax street.

Police feared a riot could have
broken out, but they say cooler heads
prevailed.

High School student allegedly assaulted
a middle school girl on a County school
bus.

on Collierstown Road.

The high schooler allegedly had a
knife and cut the middle school student
on her neck and wrist.

It's unclear what prompted the
assault.

Though the 11-year old victim was
said to be shaken up, her injuries did
not require medical treatment.

She was back at Maury River
Middle School today.

The 16-year old was been

suspended from Rockbridge High School.

killed by enemy fire April 14th during

There is a lot taking place today
and we begin in Boston with hundreds of
athletes who are on the run.

OLN Even if you only casually follow :00 running, you no doubt know that the
Kenyans own this event.

But today, Ethiopia's Hailu
Negussie (HY'-loo neh-GOO'-see)

won the Boston Marathon to break the

Kenyan stranglehold on the

world's oldest annual marathon event.

Negussie, who was fifth last
year, finished in an unofficial time of
two

hours, eleven minutes and 45 seconds to
earn the $100-thousand-dollar first
place prize. Kenyans had won 13 of the
previous 14 men's races.

However, the defending champion
on the women's side saved the day for
the Kenyans. Catherine Ndereba
(duh-RAY'-buh) of became the first
woman to

win four Boston Marathons. Her
unofficial time was two hours, 25

minutes and 12 seconds.

45.

Sam Mills, a former coach and
player with the Carolina Panthers

cancer tdoay. He was diagnosed with

cancer of the small intestine in August
2003 but continued to coach Carolina's
linebackers between chemotherapy
treatments. He died at his home.

Mills was an undersized
linebacker who became a Pro Bowl player

with New Orleans and Carolina There
is a statue of him outside Bank of
America Stadium and he is the only
player in the team's Hall of Honor.

Cancer is Lance Armstrong, he was able
to fight off the disease and win 6
straight Tour De France titles.

straight tour this summer and then he
will retire. He made the announcment
today that win or lose the 2005 tour
will be his final race. He wants to
spend more time with his 3 children and
continue his campaign against Cancer.

for the May 29 Indianapolis 500.

Powell took the pace car out for a
test spin this weekend with three time
Indy winner Johnny Rutherford.

Powell said the car was comparable

noticeable rush of air at high speeds.
He said he felt comfortable driving the
car at speeds in excess of 100 MPH.
