The state highway department
closed the road as a precaution and is
keeping an eye on the situation.
Workers began filling the hole
with tons of rock and concrete this
afternoon.
The hole that state workers
filled last week measured about 40 feet
wide and 25 feet deep, one of the
largest they'd ever seen around here.

said the team was exploring all

Lynchburg's Old City Cemetery.

dropped six boxes of flower petals over
the cemetery this afternoon ...
recreating a similar event that took
place on Memorial Day in 1941.
Today's event was geared towards
celebrating Garden Day ... and to help

city's oldest attractions.
