GRAPHIC=None Cardinals in Vatican City have begun

their

first full day of deliberations as they
try to elect a new pope.

The conclave began yesterday, and
while white smoke was

initially seen coming out of the
Sistine Chapel's chimney it

quickly turned black, a sign that means
no pope has been selected.

The cardinals are expected to hold
two rounds of voting this

morning. If no one is chosen then,

they'll meet again in the

afternoon.

VATICAN DOUBLE BOXES=Denise & DOUBLE BOXES

Solorzano/Newspath Bianca Solorzano joins us now from
Rome.

They'll continue this process until
they decide on John Paul's

successor. At which point only white
smoke will pour out of the

chimney and bells will ring.

It reflects an increase of 12-million

The proposal includes an average
raise of three percent for city

employees. The plan would increase
some user fees, including admission to

GRAPHIC= Earlier this year we showed you work

by home designers from all over the
world. They were entries in the C2C
Home Design contest. The winners
needed to design a home that is
environmentally friendly, affordable
and one that fits into Roanoke's
existing neighborhoods.

What's unique about this contest is
that the designs will actually be
built. It's just about time for that
phase to begin.

Joining us this morning is Gregg
Lewis of Smith Lewis Architecture.
Gregg has been heading up the contest.

Thanks for coming in this morning.

Today three winning design teams are
going to be in Roanoke, why?
