Police allege Petrosky choked

Novozymes on Kesler Mill Road.
Salem's fire Chief says the
company installed a floor drain that
officials believed drained into the
sewer system, but actually drained into
Masons Creek.
HazMat teams contained the spill,
but Salem officials caution residents
to stay out of Masons Creek until
further notice.
Novozyms president says he
"really regrets" what happened, and
says the company will do whatever it
takes to prevent it from happening
again.

to the Old Dominion Athletic
Conference's Baseball Tournament this
week and the first day of play was
eventful.
Top seed Bridgewater was upset by
Hampden-Sydney 6 to 4 in the day's
opener, and Washington & Lee knocked
off second seeded Lynchburg in the
afternoon game despite giving up 21
hits.

announce their plans for next season.
Guard Rashad McCants already has
declared for the N-B-A
draft, and Jawad Williams, Jackie
Manuel and Melvin Scott have completed
their eligibility. If May, Felton and
Williams also leave early - the Tar
Heels would be without their top seven
scorers from this past season.
Again, the announcements will be

folks in southside.
One of the key members on the
1982 state championship football team
at George Washington high school in
Danville was shot and killed late
Tuesday night in Richmond.
Mike Brim, who played on that 82
team with the likes of Ferrell Edmunds
and Percy Moorman, later went on to
star at Virginia Union.
In 1988, he was the 95th overall
pick in the NFL draft and he played 8
seasons in the NFL for five different
teams.
When he was a youngster, one of
his sandlot coaches in Danville was
current Roanoke City Councilman -
Sherman Lea.
