The American Civil War center opens
next year inside the Tredegar
TREAD-uh-gurr ironworks plant.

Visitors will hear about the

Union, the Confederacy, and now get the
African-American perspective, too.

The new 13-million dollar facility
opens on an 8-acre site where
11-hundred Confederate cannon were
produced by a workforce that included
many African Americans.

Organizers say the new center will
fairly tell everyone's story.

CIVIL WAR CENTER FOUNDATION; THOSE
PEOPLE ALL BELIEVED THEY WERE FIGHTING
FOR THE LEGACY OF THE AMERICAN
REVOLUTION, AND THE GREAT TRAGEDY IS
THEY SAW THAT LEGACY DIFFERENTLY. BUT
THAT'S WHAT THEY BELIEVED. WE ARE
GOING TO TELL THAT STORY IN THE WORDS
OF THE PEOPLE AT THE TIME.
