GRAPHIC=Accident Crews will have at least one

northbound lane of Route 220 in
Franklin County closed this morning,
while they're still cleaning up the
mess from a tractor trailer accident.

It happened around 6-thirty last
night near Rocky Mount.

State Police say the tractor trailer
was heading north on Route 220 when it
rounded a curve too fast, causing its
load to shift.

The shifting weight caused the
driver to lose control of the truck,
and it overturned -- covering the
highway with P-V-C pipe.

Police say the driver from North
Carolina will be charged with reckless
driving.

He was not injured.

Knoxville, Tennessee is under
investigation after 150 dead dogs
turned up in Southwest Virginia.

March, over an embankment at a dead end
road near Gate City.

Most of the carcasses were in
bio-hazard bags.

Now officials in Scott County,
Virginia, Tennessee, and the F-B-I are
all investigatings the Ross Anne
Services crematory.

Ross Ann had an agreement with a
veterinary clinic to incinerate the
carcasses.

Ross Ann was also shut down in
April after an inspector found several
dead dogs inside.

arresting people in the latest round of

a prostitution crackdown.

Last Thursday Police say they made a total of 19
arrests last week related to
prostitution.

It's all part of the department's
latest campaign to crack down on the
practice -- called Operation Red Light.

Officials say the problem is mostly
within the city's southwest
neighborhoods.

They hope by eliminating
prostitution, they can also do away
with other crimes.

Operation Red Light is now in its
second phase.

It is expected to continue
throughout the summer.

abducted at 13th street and Patterson
Avenue, Southwest. Police say he was
not hurt.

Police say the carjacking call
came at 3:30 yesterday morning ...
about the same time as a robbery at
this Exxon station on Memorial Avenue.

No word on whether the two
incidents are related.

convocation and spoke with Liberty

County is open for business..

The shelter's been open for about
two weeks now and officials say they
are already placing more animals.

The facility sits on two acres
and has more kennels for dogs and a
spay and neuter clinic.

There's even a cat condo, an
outdoor walking area and an education
room for school groups to tour.

The building was paid for mostly
through donations.

The group still needs to raise
another 30-thousand dollars.

of the Hardy Road Trailer Park.

He's charged with polluting a
tributary of the Roanoke River.

November 2004 State and Federal authorities
allege a sewage lagoon at the trailer
park routinely discharged sewage into
Sandy Creek for years and that Cooper

ignored orders to fix it.

Cooper's lawyer says Cooper tried
"at considerable expense" to put in a
septic system, but the state wouldn't
give him a discharge permit.

Attorney Paul Thompson says
Cooper tried to find a low-tech
alternative, but that with his limited
education it didn't work.
