has resulted in dozens of arrests and a
former Roanoke Council member is among
the suspects.

Swain was arrested last Thursday. He's
been charged with prostitution which is
a misdemeanor.

Reached by phone last night,
Swain told News Seven that -quote- it
was a misunderstanding. He referred
all further questions to his attorney
who could not be reached.

Swain served four years on
Roanoke City Council, but failed to win
re-election in 2000.

stand at his first trial.



Viacom has a new Chief Fianancial
Officer. Mike Dola, former chief
executive at the Young & Rubicam ad
agency will succeed Richard Bressler,
who announced his resignation in
January. Viacom is the parent company
of CBS.



Profits at Starbucks are percolating..
The coffee retail chain earned over a
hundred million dollasr in the second
quarter.. 27 precent better than the
same time last year. Sales reached 1.5

Reached by phone last night,
Swain told News Seven that -quote- it

Roanoke County tree.

some women watched as this gray-cat was
trapped in the boughs of this tree for
five-days.

cat's owner- and finally found her.

in Roanoke County.

trial today, but late yesterday
afternoon he entered pleas of no
contest to breaking and entering with a
deadly weapon, and misdemeanor assault.

According to investigators, Castillo
broke into a home on Wood Haven Road in
August, 1988 and held a knife to the
throat of a ten year old girl.

The case wasn't solved until last year
when a national database found a match
for fingerprints collected at the crime
scene.

A state lab is testing fish that were

Radford City Council raised the
Real Estate Tax by three cents for each
hundreds dollars' assessed value.
