Again, one of the things federal
authorities are looking at is a
32-thousand dollar loan that Jerry
Falwell Ministries made to Carl
Hutcherson last summer.

The money was supposed to set up a
non-profit community development
foundation associated with Hutcherson's

church, Trinity United Methodist.

How that money was spent is being
scrutinized ... because Hutcherson's
foundation never received non-profit
tax status.

The timing is also curious ...
Hutcherson was given the Falwell money
in August ... in November, he was the
only council member to vote in favor of
a proposed shopping center whose
developer was being represented by
Jerry Falwell Junior.

Falwell Junior says there was "no"
connection between the donation and the
rezoning request.

What Hutcherson's colleagues on

Three of them ... Jeff Helgeson,

office on Tuesday and handed subpoenas
from state police and the F-B-I

Barry Billcliff and Tim Crebase
were arraigned in Lawrence District
Court Friday morning.

The prosecutor says the men found
more than 100-thousand dollars worth of
old bills and bank notes in a house
where they were doing roofing repairs
and then concocted the story about the
buried treasure.

Two other men are expected to
face charges, including the owner of
the

property where the money was supposedly
dug up.

Authorities say the men probably
would have succeeded it if they hadn't
sought attention by appearing on
national news shows.
