death of a maintenance worker at
Roanoke Electric Steel.

35-year-old Christopher Hemstock of
Vinton was found unconcious at the
plant just before two o'clock this
afternoon.
Emergency crews tried to perform C-P-R
on Hemstock, but he was pronounced dead
nearly an hour later.
A company spokesperson says Hemstock
was doing maintenance work on an
overhead bridge crane when he died.
He says Hemstock's supervisor was with
Hemstock at the time, but did NOT see
what happened to him.
Authorities are now investigating.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident A teenager is dead following an
accident this morning in Halifax
County.
It happened around seven o'clock on
Route 501, north of 643.
State police say 17-year-old Jeffrey
Allen *Wilkerson* of Halifax was
traveling north, when his car crossed
the center line and hit a
tractor-trailer head on.
*Wilkerson* was pronounced dead at the
scene.
He'd just celebrated his 17th-birthday
Tuesday.
There's no word on the condition of the
truck driver.
Police are still trying to figure out
what happened.

Nearly nine-thousand homes across
the United States were renovated today

the Avs hosted the Kinston Indians.
Salem would get on the board in the

positive for sterioids. 100 games for
the second offense, and the third time

lifetime ban from baseball. This is

Early on, the big one hit, well
actually there were a number of big
one's in this race as they set a record
for the number of cautions for the
Busch Race at Talladega. In this
accident, Martin Truex Jr. and a number
of other cars would get caught up with
significant damage. the Number 8 team
would work to repair the car and it
would pay of down the line.
Lap 84. Casey Mears involved in
another big pile-up and Mears in the 38
car would get the worst of it going
airborne and ending up on the roof of
his car, He would be alright.
In the end Truex Jr. came all the
way back to be in front when the
checkered flag fell under near
darkness. He held of Jon Wood who was
happy with the start and finish of this
