death of a maintenance worker at
Roanoke Electric Steel.

35-year-old Christopher Hemstock
of Vinton was found unconcious at the
plant just before two o'clock yesterday
afternoon.
Emergency crews tried to perform
C-P-R on Hemstock, but he was
pronounced dead nearly an hour later.
A company spokesperson says he
was doing maintenance work on an
overhead bridge crane when he died.
The spokesperson says Hemstock's
supervisor was with him at the time,
but did NOT see what happened.
Authorities are now
investigating.

accident yesterday in Halifax County.

It happened around seven o'clock
on Route 501, north of 643.
State police say 17-year-old
Jeffrey Allen Wilkerson of Halifax was
traveling north, when his car crossed
the center line and hit a
tractor-trailer head on.
Wilkerson was pronounced dead at
the scene.

He'd just celebrated his
17th-birthday Tuesday.
There's no word on the condition
of the truck driver.
Police are still trying to figure
out what happened.

first started.
17-year-old Josh Long and
15-year-old Troy Driscoll were reported
missing last Sunday after not returning
from a fishing trip.

fishing vessel, "Renegade" - seven
miles off Caswell Beach, North
Carolina.

find out what caused the death of a
mainenance worker at Roanoke Electric
Steel.

35-year-old Christopher Hemstock
of Vinton was found unconcious at the
plant just before two o'clock yesterday
afternoon.
Emergency crews tried to perform
C-P-R on him, but he was pronounced
dead nearly an hour later.
A company spokesperson says
Hemstock was doing maintenance work on
an overhead bridge crane when he died.
The spokesperson says Hemstock's
supervisor was with him at the time,
but did NOT see what happened.
