had a blaze under control this morning.

The call came in around 4:30, and
before five -- the fire at 3037 Trent
Road was under control.

A family has gotten out safely,
no word on what caused the fire, or how
much damage there is.

Police say they arrived to find
twenty-three-year-old Frank *Amponsah*
stabbed in the back.

the center line, hit a pick up truck
and then hit a tractor trailer.

and E-M-S says 35-year-old Christopher

Hemstock of Vinton -- was electrocuted
Saturday while doing maintenance work
on an overhead bridge crane.

Emergency crews tried to
rescusitate Hemstock, but he was
pronounced dead about an hour later.

Roanoke police have ruled the
death an accident.

raising money for the D-Day Memorial.

presented a check for 37-thousand
dollars.

Over the last four years the
group has raised 82-thousand dollars.

The effort was started four years
ago by Anthony Madeira -- after he
heard about the millions of dollars
Bedford's D-Day memorial had collected
in debt.

think they've found a way to save their
community.

January The Rainbow Forest Recreation
Association has been toying with a
number of ideas to save its waterfront
community -- after the state ruled
upgrades had to be made.

Now the group is opening up
membership to the lake for boating,
fishing and swimming- in hopes of
raising money.


The property is currently for
sale -- but until it's sold- members
are responsible for upgrades which will
cost nearly 200-thousand dollars.

The community was cited for a
number of problems it must fix to
maintain the lake -- including an
emergency spillway that doesn't meet
minimum standards.
