down a local marijuana dealer this
weekend.

Russell P. Carrington of Montgomery
County and charged him with a felony
possession with intent to distribute.
Detectives got a tip that a
package filled with three pounds of pot
was being shipped from California to
Blacksburg.

but had it delivered through an
undercover sting operation.
Carrington is being held at the

E-M-S says 35-year-old Christopher
Hemstock of Vinton -- was electrocuted
Saturday while doing maintenance work
on an overhead bridge crane.
Emergency crews tried to rescusitate
Hemstock, but he was pronounced dead
about an hour later.
Roanoke police have ruled the death an
accident.
The company says it is now conducting

police.

community -- after the state ruled
upgrades had to be made.
Now the group is opening up
membership to the lake for boating,
fishing and swimming- in hopes of

are responsible for upgrades which will
cost nearly 200-thousand dollars.

Fire crews came to the rescue when
the Sky Diver ride at Castles N'
Coasters stopped about 40 feet above
the ground.
The passengers were stuck for
about two and a half- hours before the
fire department brought in a ladder to
get them down.
But the stranded riders didn't look
too scared.
They waved to onlookers while they
dangled their feet, and even started
singing to pass the time.

Nascar Images The goal of Jeff Gordon and
everyone else in the race to avoid the
big wreck and be up front at the end.
Things were going along nicely
for everyone until Lap 132 when the Big
One hit.
25 cars were involved.
That's the second- most ever in
one accident at Talladega.
It all started with Mike Wallace
getting turned, and then the track was
like a parking lot, with many cars
getting stopped.
And in the end it was a parking
lot for crashed cars.
The race was stopped to clean
everything up and repair the outside
wall.
With 3 laps to go, and Jeff
Gordon leading, there was trouble again
with Dale Earnhardt Junior, Kevin
Harvick, Jimmie Johnson, and Martin
Truex Junior.
They were some of the drivers
involved as they were all racing in the
top 10.
In the end it was Jeff Gordon,
who dominated this race-- leading 139
of a a possible 194 laps.
He held off Tony Stewart and
Michael Waltrip over the last couple
laps.

is on the P-G-A tour this year.
James Driscoll qualified for the
tour after finishing in the top 10 on
the money list of the Nationwide Tour a
year ago -- which included a win at the
Virginia Beach Open.

Driscoll had a chance to make the
U-V-A education and golf time pay off
big- time in the final round of the
Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Driscoll had a chance to win the
tournament outright on the 18th green.
He hit a great approach, but he
missed the short putt in the shadows.
So he is tied for the lead with
Tim Petrovic and Chris DiMarco.
DiMarco needed this putt to get
into a playoff, but receives the lip
serivce to bogey and miss out on extra
holes.
On the first playoff Hole
Driscoll 3-putted so Petrovic knocks in
the par putt to earn his first PGA Tour
victory.
