he was arrested on charges from the
Baltimore area.

anonymous tipster for leading them to a
missing toddler.

was taken from her home on Pierce
Street by her biological father,

20-year-old Andre Shane Lee on Tuesday.

Police got a tip the pair were
staying in an upstairs apartment in a
home on 15th Street.

At Jamisons (Jam- eh-sons)
orchard in Roanoke County, bee hives
are kept on site all the time, but they
have lost some of their bees.

Ron Haniwalt is a beekeeper who
takes hives to farmers who need them.

He says bees are now being
allowed in from out of state.

its court battle to operate a shooting
range.

Yesterday, the county approved an
application by the Ridgeway Hunter's
Club for a special use permit to host

N-R-A approved shooting matches.

The permit, however, does come
with several restrictions, including
the prohibition of shooting on Sundays.

Many residents who complained
about the noise say they're still not
happy.

her family under a spruce next to the

Once officers saw her there- they
put up signs so she and her 12-eggs

Disc jockeys say its popularity
has been growing nation-wide --
especially in the Roanoke/Lynchburg
market.

Two of the top five stations in
the area are country.

The number eleven station

recently dropped its adult contemporary
format for country -- and is now called
"The Bull."

The programming director for the
new station says the audience wasn't
big enough for the old format.

"The Bull" says it will take at
least two rating periods before knowing
whether the new format is working.

the shooting of a wanted man in
Christiansburg.

Greg Todd Akers was wanted in
Montgomery and Floyd Counties on
several felonies including robbery and
abduction.

Tuesday Night After being on the run for two
weeks, someone spotted Akers in
Christiansburg at the Hunan House.

Police surrounded the area and
tried to capture him.

Officials say Akers got in his
car and allegedly attempted to run over
two officers who in turn, opened fire.

Akers was shot and taken to
Montgomery Regional Hospital.


State Police are now
investigating.

Police returned to the scene
yesterday morning where a nearby car
dealership claimed to have ricochet
marks on a car windshield from a stray
bullet.

No word whether the marks were a
result of the shooting.

involved in an illegal gambling ring in
Blacksburg are out of luck.

A judge has found them guilty for
their involvement in illegal Texas Hold
em' poker games.

The games were held in an
apartment at Terrace View.

Hamze Farhat (HAM-ZE FAR-HAT)
lived in the apartment and was paid to
allow the games to take place.

He was found guilty of
permitting the operation and fined a
thousand dollars.

Four other people were fined for
being dealers.

Police say Edwin Park was the
mastermind and organizer of the
gambling operation.

His charge was certifed to a

grand jury.
