have landed another local minister in
trouble with the law.

George Hanna has been in jail since
Thursday when he was picked up on drug
charges from Baltimore.

He says he's innocent.

Family and friends have been pleading
his case... but so far Joe Dashiell
reports they haven't been able to raise
his bail.

the shooting of a wanted man in
Christiansburg.

Greg Todd Akers was wanted in
Montgomery and Floyd Counties on
several felonies including robbery and
abduction.

Tuesday Night After being on the run for two
weeks, someone spotted Akers in
Christiansburg at the Hunan House.

Police surrounded the area and

tried to capture him.

Officials say Akers got in his
car and allegedly attempted to run over
two officers who in turn, opened fire.

Akers was shot and taken to
Montgomery Regional Hospital.

State Police are now
investigating.

pleaded guilty to seven charges related
to abuse at Abu Ghraib prison.

wrong at the time.

that they need to move out of the
country or keep away from bad people
that are trying to take it from them.

All you have to do is provide all of
your personal information including

your bank name, address and your
account number so that they can do the
financial transactions. In return for
your help in this matter they will cut
you in on X percent of the money.

What they will really do is empty your
account as fast as possible. Remember-
unless you're a member of some foreign
royal family hiding out in the US-
chances are there is no good reason for
a random stranger from Mozambique to
offer you a cut of a few million
dollars in cash that they happen to
have come across.

George Hanna has been in jail since
Thursday when he was picked up on drug
charges from Baltimore.

He says he's innocent. Family and

several felonies including robbery and
abduction.

Tuesday Night After being on the run for two
weeks, someone spotted Akers in
Christiansburg at the Hunan House
Tuesday night.

Police surrounded the area and
tried to capture him.

Officials say Akers got in his

two officers who in turn, opened fire.

Akers was shot and taken to
Montgomery Regional Hospital.

State Police are now
investigating the shooting.

honored at the school's final
convocation service of the year.

20-year-old Daniel Dakum (dah-KOOM)
died from what health officials say was

a preventable illness usually seen in
children.

The native Nigerian was a junior
majoring in Computer Management.

Dr. Jerry Falwell says Dakum's
death has left a pall over the campus.

A collection was taken up during
yesterday's service to help the family
with their expenses in returning
Dakum's body to Africa.

An electrical problem in the
attic is being blamed for a dorm fire
at the College of William and Mary
Tuesday.

No one was hurt, but it could be
two days before students are allowed
back into the building.

The fire came in the middle of
exam week.

Some students left their burning
dorm to take their tests.

The college has set up temporary
shelter and given displaced students
200- dollars in spending cash.

A relief center full of donated
clothing and toiletries is also
available.

involved in an illegal gambling ring in
Blacksburg are out of luck.

A judge has found them guilty for
their involvement in illegal Texas Hold
em' poker games.

apartment at Terrace View.

Hamze Farhat (HAM-ZE FAR-HAT)
lived in the apartment and was paid to
allow the games to take place.

He was found guilty of

Four other people were fined for

Police say Edwin Park was the
mastermind and organizer of the
gambling operation.

His charge was certifed to a
grand jury.

A Roanoke minister who was jailed in
Roanoke last week on drug charges from
Baltimore says he is innocent.

In a phone interview, George Hanna told
News 7 he had moved from a home where
police found a small amount of cocaine
and marijuana.

Hanna is the assistant pastor at United
Christian Fellowship in Roanoke.

An anonymous tip led Lynchburg police
to a missing 1-year-old girl. On
Tuesday, Sheanya shuh-NY-uh Octavia Lee
was taken from her home on Pierce
Street by her biological father,

20-year-old Andre Shane Lee. Police
found them yesterday in an upstairs
apartment in a home on 15th Street.
Sheanya was unharmed.

Vinton's newest resident has decided to
start her family under a spruce tree
next to the police department.

Officers have put up signs so the duck
and her 12-eggs wouldn't be injured by
