Reporting < donors, but healthy people who donate
may be on the road to poor health
themselves. So far there is no
systematic tracking of living donors so
there is virtually no data on how many
have suffered serious injuries or
complications. Part of the problem is
that transplant hospitals set their own
standards and the government does not
regulate donations from living donors.
More than 70 thousand people in the
U.S. have given organs for transplant.

Drug abuse is usually a problem for
younger generations but a new report
shows that the age of substance abusers
may be rising. The number of adults
over age fifty-five entering treatment
centers is climbing. If current trends
continue, researchers say the number of

adults over 50 with substance abuse
problems will climb to 5 million by
2020. Alcohol is still the main
substance abused by older adults, but
the report indicates that drug abuse is
also on the rise.

And finally...summer is right around
the corner so it's time to start
thinking about preventing skin cancer.
The Centers for Disease Control says
that more than half a person's lifetime
exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays
occurs during childhood and adolescence
so when your kids hit the beach this
summer, make sure they are protected.
So use plenty of sun block with a high
level of protection and cover up
whenever possible.
