for an escapee who took off in
Pittsylvania County last night.

Robert Wayne Grasty Junior was
being transported to the Pittsylvania
County jail, when he removed his leg
cuffs and ran as the deputy opened the
vehicle door.
Grasty is from Danville.
He is a 32 year old black man,
about 5 foot eight with black hair,
brown eyes and a tattoo on his right
shoulder that reads J-K-C.
He also has a scar on his face.
Grasty had handcuffs and a body
chain on when he fled.

against the owner of a pit bull that
attacked a four year old girl.
25 year old Dennis Devon Murphy of
Danville is accused of violating a city
code that prevents animals from running
at large.

Last Friday Police say it was Murphy's dog that
charged a group of children last
Thursday evening, biting Nadya
Aboubakar ah-BOO-buh-kar in the legs.
The dog remains in 10-day isolation at
the Danville Humane Society.

answer whether the dog can be ruled as
a "Dangerous" one under Danville city
codes.

get a new owner.

company based in Tennessee, has agreed
to buy the Danville Regional Medical
Center.
Officials will announce details
of the deal at a news conference this
afternoon.
Part of the agreement will set up

have to approve the agreement.

after a school bus collided with two
other vehicles today.

apparently picked up an abandoned baby
girl who'd been placed inside a plastic
bag .
Officials say the dog-- who was
nursing a litter of puppies-- must have
carried the infant across a busy road

Officials say the girl, who
hospital staff named Angel, is now in
stable condition.

These first-year engineering
students put what they learned to the
test yesterday, as they launched the
*balsa* wood gliders they worked on
throughout the semester.
Their professors say designing
the crafts and competing to take top
gliding honors, lays down the
fundamentals that these students will
need to succeed at Virginia Tech.
