investigating two shootings.

The first one happened last night
around 5- 15 in the 2400 block of

Massachusetts Avenue

Dispatchers say the victim was
shot in the leg by an acquaintance.

The suspect apparently followed the
victim to Roanoke Memorial Hospital
after the incident.

No word on charges filed.

The second shooting happened on
the 500 block of Day Avenue a few
minutes after 10 last night.

Police got several calls of shots
fired, and when officers showed up,
they found a man on the sidewalk with a
gunshot wound.

He was taken to Roanoke Memorial
Hospital as well.

No word on his condition.

with its dog...

this week.

The dog faced charges after he
had gotten loose, ran through Salem,
then cornered and barked at a neighbor.

He was taken to the Salem Animal
Shelter, where his owners were told he
wouldn't be freed until after his court
date in June.

According to owner Billie Jo
Firebaugh, the trial date was moved up
and held yesterday.

Charges against the owners were
dropped- upon the condition that
Brownie would no longer reside in

Salem.

Brownie now lives in Montogomery
County with Firebaugh's son.

about it.

Good Afternoon to you.

I read where you and your wife Anne
Jackson were recently named the King
and Queen of Brooklyn. That's where it
all started for you... did you always
picture yourself becoming an actor?

You have an impressive resume, starring
in films like "The Magnificent Seven, "
"How the West Was Won," and recently,
"Mystic River." What do you think has
kept you working for so long?

You have 50 years of anecdotes from
both your career and your personal
life. Do you have a favorite story?

Royals says skipper Tony Pena has
resigned, following the team's 16th
loss in 19 games.

The loss dropped the Royals to
8-and-25, one season after finishing
with a team- record 104 losses.

Bench coach Bob Schaeffer takes over

for Pena on an interim

basis, according to team spokesman
Aaron Babcock.

Pena was 198-and-285 as Kansas
City's manager.
