unanimously endorsed

commissioner Bud Selig's SEE'-lihgz
proposal for toughened

steroid testing.

Under the new proposal, first-time
steroid offenders would receive a 50-
game suspension.

The punishment escalates to a 100-
game ban for a second positive test,
with a lifetime suspension going to
third- time offenders.
