killed earlier this week -- when a bomb
hit their vehicle.

They were taking part in region-wide
operation to wipe out supporters of
militants.

An attack this morning killed two
Iraqi cleaners in Southern Baghdad. Two
others were also injured when an

policemen were injured when a car bomb

for a wreck that sent a motorcyclist to
the hospital.

Anthony Dillard was headed east on
Route 24 near Appomattox yesterday when
a car crossed in front of him.

Dillard's motorcycle crashed into
the side of the Dodge Neon ... he was
flown to Lynchburg where he's still in
serious condition.

45-year-old Eleanor L. Cobbs is
charged with failing to yield the right
of way.

Yesterday Two Grayson County men are lucky to
be alive after their pickup truck ran
off a retaining wall near Lynchburg's

River Ridge Mall.

Police say 19-year-old David
Irizarry (ear-ih-ZAIR-ee) was trying to
avoid another car in the mall parking
lot when he lost control, went over a
15-foot wall and landed upside down.

A passenger ... 20-year-old
Zachary Zappia (ZAH-pee-uh) suffered
minor injuries.

Police say seatbelts and airbags
saved both men from serious injury.

It's located on Main Street next to
the municipal building.

The town partnered with a developer
to build the 17 million dollar
structure.

It opened in September but so far the
investment hasn't paid off.

While we were there, we only saw
about 30 parked cars.

That's pretty small when you consider
the garage has nearly four hundred
spaces.

parents and school leaders are weighing
in on whether to renovate or build a
new school.

air conditioning.

Some even have structural damage.

Over the years, the Jackson River

He calls himself "MadMax". He's wanted
in connection to a burglary and sexual
assault that happened May 5 on
Leesville Road.

The suspect is described ast 5 foot 7
between 170 and 175 pounds. He was last
seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt.

Police say based on evidence collected
they believe he smokes Monarch
cigarettes.

County's prosecutor may be on hold.

The Supreme Court of Virginia

yesterday issued a stay in the case,
putting the appointment of an acting
commonwealth's attorney on hold.

prosecuted cases in Floyd this week.
She was named to the post by Circuit
Court Judge Ray Grubbs after the
elected commonwealth's attorney, Gordon
Hannett, was called to active military
duty.

Hannett had hired an assistant
to run the office in his absence, and
he challenged the judge's order. Late
yesterday afternoon, the court granted
his motion for an immediate stay.

It's unclear when the Supreme
Court will rule on the underlying
issues, but last night the attorney
Hannett hired to serve as his deputy,
Dennis Nagel, confirmed that he will
prepare for court on Wednesday.

a parking problem but the solution so
far isn't working.

"Mindhunters." The thriller takes place
on a remote island, where the FBI has a
training program for their
psychological profiling division. But
things go horribly wrong for one group
of trainees when the young agents
discover there's a serial killer among
them. Rated this film R for
violence/strong graphic images,
language and sexual content.

Jet Li brings more than his usual
martial arts mastery to his latest
movie, "Unleashed." Li plays "Danny," a
slave who has lived his whole life
without any sort of normal human
education, with the mind and
personality of a young child, with only
one lesson learned: how to fight.
Treated like a dog by his owner/boss,
Bart - played by Bob Hoskins, Danny

forces him to wear a collar and has
been raised to be a lethal fighting
machine who fights in illegal
gladiator-style fight clubs, where he
earns lots of money for Bart as the
undisputed champion. After a car
accident lands Bart in a coma, however,
Danny meets a kind elderly blind piano
tuner played by Morgan Freeman on the
run because he knows secrets some bad
guys don't want known, who uses music
to teach Danny some things about the
world and about being human.
"Unleashed" is rated this film R for
strong violent content, language and
some sexuality/nudity.

And Will Ferrell adds another everyman
who erupts from his placid shell in the
family comedy "Kicking and Screaming."
His "Phil" had to put up all his life
with his overly competitive father,
"Buck" played by Robert Duvall. When
Phil decides to coach his 10-year-old
son's soccer team, he goes head-to-head
for the league championship against
Buck, who coaches his own young son on
the preeminent team of the league. Old
scores come into play as Phil and Buck
find themselves going to extreme

measures to win the championship
trophy. "Kicking and Screaming" is
rated this film PG.

Connie Baker organized the effort
