GRAPHIC=Lynchburg Police Lynchburg police are looking into
SCAMALERT7 Animation an adoption scam.

Police have not released the name
of the woman they believe is behind the
scam.

But officials say she took tens
of thousands of dollars from families
over the Internet during a two year
period.

The woman could face charges of
fraud and operating an adoption service
without a license.

So far, about half of the victims
have come forward.

has gone from selling people on his
politics to selling home decor.

County, held a yard sale yesterday to
get rid of items that used to decorate
his OLD home -- the historic Rockledge
on Mill Mountain.

They included everything from
bedroom furniture to oil paintings.

Smith bought Rockledge in 1992
for just over 600-thousand dollars.

He recently sold it to a couple
for one and half MILLION dollars.
