chlorine leak in Lynchburg last night.

According to published reports,
workers at the city's wastewater
treatment plant were evacuated after a
one ton cylinder of chlorine began
leaking.

At least four people were
hospitalized last night from exposure
to the chemical. None had life
threatening injuries.

Home Depot plans to build an
entrance road into the new store, using
the same stoplight that moves traffic
into Lowes.

Developers say they already own
the affected property so none of the
residents would have to give up their
land.

The company's planning a
community meeting for next Tuesday, to

people a place to stay overnight at one
of Virginia's popular state parks.

The Foster Falls hotel in the New
River Trail State Park in Wythe County
is going to be renovated and reopened
later this year.

The Inn is 118 years old and was
orginally used by a mining company.

Park officials say the hotel will
have 16 rooms, 8 suites and a full
service restaurant.

The project will cost about 2 and
a half million dollars.

It was paid for in 2002 when
voters approved the state park bond
issue.

The Roanoke school board will
hear what a panel studying the future
of the city's charter school is
recommending.

The school board formed this
committee last month after protests
from parents and students.

Here's what the committee is
recommending.

Students from Blue Ridge
Technical Academy would attend their
neighborhood high school for part of
the day.

At some point, they'll all gather
at a central location, most likely a
building at Patrick Henry High School.


There, students will take
business and technical classes.

The school board is expected to vote
on whether to approve this
recommendation later this morning.

Workmen cleaning up the site of
the old Virginia Scrap Iron company
near Jefferson Street found a pile of
old locomotive driving wheels.

The set weigh about five tons
apiece.

They've been donated to the City
by the estate of Virginia Scrap Iron
owner Sam Golden.

Some of the wheels will be
cleaned up, and displayed at the
Railwalk downtown, beside the Norfolk
Southern tracks.

three-hours of public comment - the
Botetourt County board of supervisors
rejected a plan to expand the town of
Fincastle.

In a vote three to two- the board
decided too many people had concerns
about the proposal which would have
increased the town from 151 acres to
more than 16-hundred.
