chlorine leak in Lynchburg.

According to published reports,
workers at the city's wastewater
treatment plant were evacuated last
night after a one ton cylinder of
chlorine began leaking.
At least four people were
hospitalized last night from exposure
to the chemical. None had life
threatening injuries.

Students from Blue Ridge Technical

The world's largest printer maker said
second quarter profit rose 9 percent as
strong sales of personal computers
helped stem sliding profit from
printers. But HP warned that earnings
this quarter will miss analysts'
estimates.
A federal bankruptcy judge called a
two-day recess Tuesday in United
Airlines' bankruptcy court trial. The
recess gives the carrier and its
machinists' union extra time to work
out a new contract before the judge
rules on imposing lower pay and
benefits unilaterally.
Stocks staged a midday rally, lifted by
better than expected profits from a
string of big name retailers including
Home Depot, Staples and JC Penney.
the dow rallied 79 points.. the s&p
rose 8.. while the nasdaq added nearly
10 points.
Collins and Aikman became the latest
auto parts maker to topple into Chapter
11 bankruptcy.. The company along with
auto parts makers Delphi and Visteon
have had to deal with fewer cars being
made by struggling automakers GM and
Ford.
Barnes and Noble suffered a 13 percent
profit slide in the first quarter, but
there is a silver lining. The nation's
largest bookseller says the arrival of
the sixth "Harry Potter" book in July
will send second-quarter results above
Wall Street expectations.

homes without a fight.

120-day notice before their leases are
terminated.
But the residents ... many of whom
are elderly or disabled ... say time
and financial constraints are making it
extremely difficult.
They will meet with an attorney
later today to discuss their legal
options.
The park's owners could "not" be
reached for comment.

hospital last night after becoming
exposed to a chlorine leak in
Lynchburg.
Workers at the city's wastewater
treatment plant were evacuated after a
one- ton cylinder of chlorine began
leaking.

Supervisors is keeping the population
of Fincastle as it is.
The board rejected a proposal that
would have brought nearly 700 new
residents into the town.

region have tested positive for rabies.
That includes a case just last
week involving a fox in the Bradshaw
area of Roanoke County.

According to published reports,

comment last night- the Botetourt
County board of supervisors rejected a
plan to expand the town of Fincastle.
In a three to two vote- the board
decided too many people had concerns
about the proposal which would have
