help from authorities in Florida, after
finding a man from that state shot to

death in a parking lot.

Yesterday, a customer at the
Wendy's on South Boston Road discovered
the man inside his Jeep, bleeding from
the head.

Police don't know how long he'd
been there ... they did "not" say
whether the wound appeared
self-inflicted.

The car had Florida tags, and
investigators are asking Florida
authorities for help in identifying
him.

a man on the run faces charges for
attempted murder of a police officer.

They're looking for a man who
hit a Sheriff's deputy with his truck.

Wednesday night in the Ironridge area.

Investigators say the man sped
through a DUI checkpoint and his side
mirror hit a deputy.

The deputy was treated for
bruises.

The suspect ditched the car and
ran into the woods.

joining forces.

about five-thousand jobs will be cut.

It's not quite clear how the
merger will affect employees or
customers in the Roanoke Valley.

Amanda DeHaven with the Roanoke
Regional Airport says the plan sounds
good and that they're glad U-S Airways
is staying in the area.

day in court, but may have to return as
an investigation continues.

He appeared before a federal grand
jury yesterday.

It's unclear whether Hutcherson
actually testified before being told he
could leave for the day.

The remaining city officials and
Lynchburg-area real estate developers
who arrived under subpoena were told to
return after lunch as the Grand Jury
continued hearing testimony.

The investigation has been
underway since February and could take
several more months.

an elementary school prompted a bomb
scare in Campbell County.

Authorities still aren't sure who
wrote the threat on a stall in a boys
bathroom at Tomahawk Elementary, but

the school had to be evacuated.

A bomb-sniffing dog searched the
building yesterday, but didn't find
anything.

Students were out of class for
about an hour.

construction while students are out for
the summer.

Most of the work will be done on
Washington Street.

Crews are adding yellow paint to
the crosswalks, removing 44 parking
spaces and adding a bike lane... all so
pedestrians will be more visible.

A roundabout will be built at
Washington Street and West Campus
Drive.

And the university is adding its
first ever traffic light near the
football stadium.


Construction should be done by
the time the students return and
definately before the first home
football game.
