investigating a possible sighting of
the two children missing from a murder
scene.

Authorities say they received a 9-1-1
call from a pawn shop owner, who
spotted a man with two children who
resembled the missing siblings.

The man reportedly asked for
directions to Libby, Montana.

Meanwhile, the children's father has

sent out a plea for their safe return.

looking for a man who hit a Sheriff's
deputy with his truck.

Wednesday night in the Ironridge area.

Investigators say the man sped
through a DUI checkpoint and his side
mirror slammed into a deputy.

The deputy was taken to the
hospital and treated for bruises.

The suspect ditched the car and

death in a Danville parking lot.

Police there are trying to figure
out how it happened.

the man inside his Jeep, bleeding from
the head.

Police don't know how long he'd

authorities for help in identifying
him.

campus this summer.

and JetBlue.

Keep your eye on The Gap.. The retailer
delievered a 7 percent slide in
earnings last quarter as sales at Gap,

Visteon...the money-losing auto- parts
supplier spun off from Ford, may sell
as many as 15 factories. The sale would
allow Visteon to shed some 17-thousand
union jobs. Those employees would

either be offered early retirements or
transfers back to Ford.

More good news for homebuyers..
mortgage rates fell again this week..
To a three month low.. the average for
a 30 year fixed rate mortgage is
five-point-71 percent, down from
five-point-77 percent last week.

made a big announcement.

VO-NAT The nation's seventh and eighth

largest carriers said yesterday they
will combine operations.

The airline will keep the U-S
Airways' name, but make its homebase in
Tempe, Arizona, which is already home
to America West.

Company spokesmen say the merger
will mean better service to more than

abroad.

about five-thousand jobs will be cut.

It's not quite clear how the
merger will affect employees or
customers in the Roanoke Valley.

Amanda DeHaven with the Roanoke
Regional Airport says the plan sounds
good and that they're glad U-S Airways

broke ground on a new 140-thousand
square foot patient tower near the
hospital's main entrance.

Crews already have been working
for weeks relocating utility lines and
digging the footings for the five-story
structure.

The tower will add 140 new beds to
the hospital's capacity.

Centra Health needs to raise 10
million dollars to help finance the
project.

The public part of that campaign
gets underway next week.

Authorities in Carroll County are
looking for a man who hit and injured a
Sheriff's deputy with his truck
Wednesday night.

Investigators say the man sped through
a D-U-I checkpoint and his side mirror
slammed into the deputy.

The suspect then ditched the car and
ran into the woods.

A Florida man was found shot to
death in a Danville parking lot.

Yesterday, a customer at the Wendy's
on South Boston Road discovered the man
inside his Jeep, bleeding from the
head.

Police did "not" say whether the

wound appeared self-inflicted.

The car had Florida tags, and
investigators are asking Florida
authorities for help in identifying
him.

Robert Mills, says he got the best
birthday present ever yesterday.

His brother, James Walters, made
surprise visit to his last home
