morning while driving his tractor
trailer on Route 220.

morning.

Authorities say 49-year-old Ian
Stansbury ran off the road and hit an
embankment.

He was pronounced dead on the scene.

arrested a South Boston man on several
drug charges.

in a Roanoke City neighborhod on Route
220 back in 2002.

Now the plan is moving forward --

they will combine operations.

Federal regulators still have to
approve the merger of U-S Airways and
America West.

It's not clear how the merger
will affect service at Roanoke Regional

parking lot at Salem High School looks
fairly easy to navigate, of course
that's in a NORMAL car.

Students today drove the course
in this modified Volkswagen Bug.

The car simulates the loss of
motor skills, similar to what a drunk
driver would experience on the road.

Students also wore a pair of
"drunk goggles" that had them seeing

double as they negotiated their way
through the cones.

action today.

The Virginia Police Work Dog
Association hosted the Iron Dog
competition.

Forty-Two dog and handler teams
competed for bragging rights as they
ran through a three mile course, filled
with real life scenarios the officers
could see on the streets.

Finishing the course the dogs,
depending on their specialty, would
sniff out drugs, take down a suspect,
or find explosives.

The team with the fastest time
went home as Virginia's Iron Dog
Champion.

to make quite a trek. The 15 year old
who brings his fishing pole in his golf
bag anywhere he travels, hails from

today. Sprangel headed the Cavalier
softball program for 8 seasons,
compiling a record of 303 and 215.

bounced back to beat Miami of Ohio 4-1
in the Knoxville Regional of the NCAA
tourney. That eliminates the Red
Hawks. Tech will now get another shot
at the College of Charleston tonight.
The Cougars beat Tech last night 10-2.
That game's winner will face Tennessee
on Sunday.

championship is being played over at
Roanoke Catholic. The tournament
started with 14 teams in a double
elimination format. The hoopsters
come from all around the Commonwealth
and had to win their regional qualifer
in order to be eligible for the state

crowned on Sunday, receives an
automatic bid to the National
tournament for a shot at the national
title and more exposure.
