a three-year-old murder.

:05 23-year-old Stephanie Bennett of
Rocky Mount was found raped and
murdered in her Raleigh apartment
nearly three-years ago.

A special tip line has been set
up this weekend in an effort to find
her killer.

Officers from the Raleigh Police
department set up the line which opened
last night and will be staffed
throughout tomorrow night.

A 100-thousand dollar reward is
being offered to anyone who has
information leading to Bennett's
killer.

The 23-year-old had moved to
Raleigh after graduating from Roanoke
College.

dead after an accident on Route 220 in
Franklin County.

It happened just North of Route
608 just before four o'clock Saturday
morning.

Authorities say 49-year-old Ian
Stansbury ran of the road and hit an
embankment.

He was pronounced dead on the
scene.

Officials say he was NOT wearing
his seatbelt.

Island.

circling when its engine stalled.

No one was injured on the beach.

The plane crashed into the beach

birds eye view of why a drunk driver is
a dangerous one.

This road course set up on the
parking lot of Salem High School looks
fairly easy to negotiate, of course
that's in a NORMAL car.

Students yesterday drove the
course in this modified Volkswagen Bug.

The car simulates a point-seven
second loss of all motor skills,
similar to what a drunk driver would
experience on the road.

Students also wore a pair of
drunk goggles, that had them seeing
double as they negotiated their way
through the cones.

the park for some dogs in Franklin
County.

But the police canines showed
what they're made of in front of
residents this weekend.

Association hosted the Iron Dog
competition.

42-dog and handler teams competed
for bragging rights as they ran through
a three mile course, filled with real
life scenarios the officers could see
on the streets.

Finishing the course- the dogs,

sniff out drugs, take down a suspect,
or find explosives.

The team with the fastest time
went home as Virginia's Iron Dog
Champion.

UCLA study tested the mouth cells of

legionnaire's disease from a hot tub
at this rental home in the North
Carolina. Another vacationer with him
from the New Rivery Valley has been
treated after showing symptoms of the
disease.

say this could have been prevented if
the hot tub was cleaned, or given a

investigate a house fire that killed
nine people, including seven kids.

The fire broke out early Saturday
morning during a children's sleepover.

The fire was so hot, it scorched
the frame of the home jet black and
forced neighbors back who rushed in to
help.

The victims include a woman and
four of her children.

Meanwhile, about 50-people are
homeless after a fire in Massachusetts
engulfed several apartment buildings.

The fire started in one building
and then quickly spread to two more.

Residents were evacuated at
the last minute, and everyone survived.

Investigators are still
trying to determine the cause of the
blaze.

In Roanoke, investigators are
still trying to figure out what caused
a house fire early Saturday.

A house in the 400-block of
McDowell Avenue caught fire around
eight o'clock.

Officials say the fire started in
the basement and spread to the first
floor.

No one was in the house at the
time.

Officials say the fire caused an
estimated 85-thousand dollars in
damage.

believe someone knows something that
could lead to the killer of a local
woman.

:05 23-year-old Stephanie Bennett of
Rocky Mount was found raped and
murdered in her Raleigh apartment
nearly three-years ago.

A special tip line has been set
up this weekend in an effort to find
her killer.

Officers from the Raleigh Police
department set up the line which opened
last night and will be staffed
throughout tomorrow night.

A 100-thousand dollar reward is
being offered to anyone who has
information leading to Bennett's
killer.

The 23-year-old had moved to
Raleigh after graduating from Roanoke
College.

raising money for a teenage girl who's

fighting cancer.

She's been battling the disease
from more than an year, and throughout
it all has managed to keep a smile on
her face.
