State police say Minty
Brandley's car was traveling at a high
rate of speed when it ran off the road
in Bedford County.

car when she ran off Joppa Mill Road
around seven o-clock.
The car hit a tree so hard the
engine compartment was torn from the
rest of the vehicle.
Brandley, a Lynchburg
resident and teacher at Staunton River
High School, was killed.
She was not wearing a seat
belt, though troopers say it may not
have made a difference in this
accident.

Today Gordon Sprinkle, brother of
Botetourt County Sheriff Ronnie
Sprinkle, was in a Roanoke City
courtroom.
The 48-year-old was charged in
March with possession of marijuana, and

intent to distribute.
Today, the marijuana charge was
dropped while the meth charge advanced

announce the start of a brand new
driving school for fans.

with Indy racing legend Mario Andretti.
Those fans who fork out the cash
to drive - will have the chance to

In one other racing note tonight
- apparently enough is enough for Dale
Junior.
Dale Earnhardt Junior today
replaced his crew chief Pete Rondeau.
He is being replaced by longtime
NASCAR garage fixture Steve Hmiel.
The change is effective beginning
with this weekend's Coca-Cola 600.
Dale Junior has been as low as 27th in
the points this season. He currently
11th, but without a win.
