ten- thousand units of blood or blood

the Red Cross had followed its own
guidelines.
*CG file File Tape The recalls took place between the
Spring of 2003 and 2004.
The Appalachian Region, which
covers the News 7 viewing area,
recalled 52 units of blood products
because the bags didn't contain enough
platelets to be effective.
That failure resulted in a fine
of nearly 160- thousand dollars.
The Red Cross says it hopes new
operating procedures, implemented last
fall, will cut down on the number of
recalls.
