Campbell County teenager accused of a
string of break-ins, armed robberies
and a rape.

18-year-old Shay William Ward is
charged with those crimes, including
the robbery, beating and rape of an
elderly woman.

A judge today ordered Ward held
indefinitely while prosecutors seek to
try him as an adult ... he was just 17
when the crimes were committed.

the term Phishing- with a PH. A scam
where by e-mail, phone or other means
the scammer is looking to lure you into
giving out your personal information
like bank account numbers, social
security number and so on. The way to
avoid the problem is simple- just don't
give out your information. Today in
your Scam Alert 7 Report - a warning
about a new security threat lurking on
the internet called Pharming.

The Pharmers are looking for the same
information as the phishers- the
difference is that the e-mail they send
contains a virus that installs itself
on the computer. When the user tries
to go to their banks real website- the
program redirects the browser to the
pharmer's fake site. It then asks the
user to update information such as
logons, pins or other sensitive
information.

The virus is the seed and the pharmers
are looking to harvest your information
- here's how you can put a dent in
their crop:

Maintain up-to-date antivirus,
antispyware and firewalls on your
computer

Make sure you are using a secure
website- in the address bar, look for
the letter "s" next to the http. You
can also look for the lock or key icon
at the bottom of the browser. And

If the site has changed since your last
visit- be suspicious. When in doubt-
don't use it.

Pay close attention to any website you
use that requires personal information.
