It happened around 5:45 last
night on Route 21, about three miles
south of Wytheville.

36-year-old Steven Price Delp of
Elk Creek was headed south when he
crossed the center line and struck a
Trailblazer head on.

Delp was pronounced dead at the
scene.

The driver and one passenger in
the SUV were airlifted from the scene.

Smith of Dublin swerved to miss a deer,
overcorrected and hit an oncoming car.

In other news, a Virginia Tech
professor has developed a vaccine to
treat kennel cough in dogs. He believes
the respiratory illness is responsible
for the outbreaks at race tracks cross
the country including this one at
Wonderland Greyhound park in
Massachusetts were 16 greyhounds died.

Kennel cough is a contagious diseases
--and all dogs are susceptible to it.

accident in Wythe County last night-
six others were injured.

It happened around 5:45 on Route
21, about three miles south of
Wytheville.

36-year-old Steven Price Delp of
Elk Creek was headed south when he
crossed the center line and struck an
SUV - carrying six people- head on.

Delp was pronounced dead at the
scene.

The other four people, including
three children, were treated for minor

Hundreds of friends and family of
29-year-old Minty Brandley gathered
inside the Thomas Road Baptist Church
to give closure to a week of tragedy.

Tuesday morning Brandley died in
a car accident after she lost control
of her car, and crashed into a tree off
Joppa Mill Road in Bedford County.

Brandley was on her way to
Staunton River High School where she
was a special needs teacher.

A job that friends and students

say fit her perfectly.

preliminary class-action settlement
between Norfolk Southern and some South
Carolina residents who were evacuated
after a train wreck and chemical spill.

Nine people were killed and 250
were injured in January when a train
collided with several parked railroad
cars -- causing a tanker car carrying
chlorine to rupture.

Norfolk Southern has agreed to
fully compensate residents for property
damage, lost wages and businesses' lost
profits.

The company expects to spend 35
million dollars for cleanup costs and

other expenses from the wreck.

Hundreds showed up to watch and
participate in the competition.

The Freestyle skate shop in
Roanoke initially organized the event
for publicity -- but after hearing
Vinton town officials were having
graffiti and littering problems at the
park, organizer Duane Brown offered the

town some suggestions.

Brown says there were some town
officials watching, including the
mayor, who seemed pleased at the
success of the competition.

Brown hopes this weekend's event
will help keep the skate park open for
