Pittslyvania County lake.

were called to Elkhorn Lake about a
quarter to five yesterday afternoon.

Traquil Nywon Goode of
Danville was with his family at an
outing when he disappeared. Relatives
found him in the beach area.

GRAPHIC=Shooting Police in Grayson County are



calling it murder suicide -- after an
elderly man shot his girlfriend, and
then turned the gun on himself -- all
in front of the neighbor.

The shooting happened just after
three yesterday at this house on
Ivanhoe Road in Fries.

The Sheriff says 68-year old
Robert Bonds shot 77-year old Virginia
Haynes three times, once in the chest
and twice in the back.

A neighbor, who apparently saw
it all happen, says Bonds then shot
himself in the head.

The sheriff says Bonds had been
drinking.

An autopsy will determine
whether, in fact, he was drunk.

heroes on Memorial Day, hundreds were
attending a special ceremony at the
National D-Day Memorial.

those lost on D-Day were dedicated --
14 of which tell the battlefield
stories.

This plaque commends the cremen
of the U-S-S Rich. Their children

The majority of the money made

Memorial Day ceremonies brought
about 100- people to Lee Plaza.

have repealed a law making it illegal
to have a loaded shotgun or rifle in a
vehicle.

Meyers in the parking lot of the
Lexington Baptist Church -- she was

Harvey Hotinger voted in favor of
the repeal.

He says very few people are in
favor of keeping the law, and it
prevents farmers from protecting their
livestock, and that responsibility is
key to preventing tragedies like that

trouble than nerds.

That's the conclusion of a new study
at the University of Virginia.

The study found that popular teens
are three times more likely to drink,
smoke pot, shoplift and vandalize
property.

The study was based on surveys of
500 Charlottesville-area middle school
students.

One U-V-A professor says the study
contradicts the conventional view that
popular kids don't do bad things.

David Waters says it shows that we
shouldn't automatically blame the
disaffected and the lonely.
