Under the agreement- "Mindy," as
she's known to her family, will get
five-years with all but eight-months
suspended.

After she's released from jail
she'll have five-years probation and
have to pay back nearly 12-thousand
dollars in restitution.

Nearly eight-months after her ordeal
first began- Melinda Bond plead guilty
to embezzlement.



It all started back in November when
Vinton Police received a report of a
missing woman after Bond failed to show
up for her job at Bojangle's.



At the end of January, she was found in
a Las Vegas airport after reports
surfaced she had stolen money from her
job.

Salem Commonwealth's Attorney Charlene
Day wouldn't talk on camera, but says
Bond was sentenced in Virginia Beach in
2003 and because she's now violated
probation has nearly five-years hanging
over her head there.



But, her lawyer says through it all
Bond's remaining positive.

four-count indictment on

U-S Marshals in Roanoke arrested
him about a month later at the
Jefferson Motor Lodge.

concerning the the Tiki and Ronde
Barber's annual NFL Twins football
camp.

For the past seven Junes the camp
has been a fixture in the valley.

But all good things must come to
an end.

And this afternoon camp director
Walt Derey told us that there will NOT
be a camp this summer, and that chances
are good that the camp will not return
in the future.

existence - more than 3000 young kids
got to take advantage of the Barbers'
presence and instruction.

The big reason the camp is ending
is that life is changing.

All of the counselors now have
families and young children of their
own to take care of.

April Several newspapers in the
northern region of the nation say Mike
Groh is a top candidate to replace
David Cutcliffe as quarterbacks coach
for the Fighting Irish. Cutcliffe
stepped down for health reasons.

The younger Groh is in his 5th
year as quarterbacks coach at UVa.

polls are already starting to come out
and the Blue Ribbon Football Yearbook
has five ACC teams in its preseason top
25.

The Hokies are ranked 9th while
UVa checks in at number 21.


The highest ranking ACC team is
Florida State at number 7.

Miami is 13th and newcomer Boston
College is 15th.

school spring sports as many teams in
the area are looking to lock up berths
in the Spring Jubilee next weekend in
Radford.

Region III Tennis A Regional title was handed out
in tennis at the River's Edge Sports
Complex today. Hidden Valley beat
Northside in the team competition 5 to
nothing. The Titans now advance to the
Group Two A State Tournament.

They also played the semi-finals
in both the Singles and Doubles.

The singles title will be played at 9
tomorrow morning rain or shine.

In the Doubles semi-finals. The
team from Hidden Valley advanced to the

title game to face Lord Botetourt.
Both teams won this afternoon in
straight sets. The Titans defeated
Jefferson Forest and the Cavaliers took
down a team from Prince Edward. The
Doubles Championship will be played
tomorrow as well. If it rains all of
the action moves indoors to the courts
at Countryside.
