In a plea bargain yesterday,
25-year-old Melinda Bond pled guilty to

embezzlement.

The Commonwealth's Attorney says
the charge stems from October when Bond
started taking money from her
management job at the Bojangle's
restaurant in Salem.

Bond received a five year
sentence with all but eight months
suspended.

Once she's released she'll have
to pay nearly 12-thousand dollars in
restitution and court costs.

MICHAEL MASSEY, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: I
THINK SHE'S VERY PLEASED. WE TALKED AT
GREAT LENGTHS ABOUT IT, MET ON NUMEROUS
OCCASSIONS TO MAKE SURE SHE FULLY
UNDERSTOOD THE NATURE OF THE CHARGES,
FULLY UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING THAT WAS
HAPPENING, FULLY UNDERSTOOD WHAT SHE
WAS ENTERING A PLEA TO, WHAT THE NATURE
OF THE PLEA WAS AND WHAT SHE WOULD
REALLY HAVE TO SERVE TO FINALIZE THE
PLEA AGREEMENT AND I THINK SHE WAS VERY
SATISFIED WITH THAT.

The Commonwealth's Attorney says
Bond received a sentence on the low-end
of the guidelines because the charge
violates her probation in Virginia
Beach.

According to Charlene Day- Bond
faces nearly five-years there.
