The Virginia Municipal League is
studying the two plans.

the latest addition to the Botetourt
County emergency response arsenal.

The county bought it with a
57-thousand dollar grant from the
federal government, so emergency
personnel can respond to any sort of
terrorist threat.

It has a camera on the roof to
keep watch and a radio system any
jurisdiction- such as the FBI- could
patch into.

GRAPHIC=Police Shooting Three Alleghany County deputies


were just doing their jobs.

That's according to a grand jury
that investigated their involvement
with a shooting last March.

The shooting happened after a 75
mile pusuit- that started in West
Virginia and ended in Alleghany County
when deputies shot the driver of a
stolen semi-truck.

Sergeant R.T. Walton and
Corporals S.E. Bush, and C.D. Gibson
were all investigated after the
incident.

Wednesday, a grand jury concluded
there was no criminal misconduct on the
part of the deputies.

The driver who was shot remains a
patient at Roanoke Memorial Hospital
and is in fair condition.

Officials say the move is really
about patient care because the current

may be too high, and dangerous for
others on the road.

While few would argue we should
share the highway with "monster
trucks," Roanoke Police are cracking
down on vehicles with high-rise
bumpers.

Officer Roger Fuller- -in
particular- -has been handing out
tickets, citing drivers for exceeding
the height limits for lifted vehicles.

There's a gray area, though.

If you drive a TRUCK, all you
have to do is pay 10 more dollars when
you register it, and it's legal.
