of Walnut Avenue between 5th and 8th
streets while crews take care of the
mess left behind by high water.

inches of rain in some areas.

Here at the Willowbrook trailer park
off Route 460 near Blue Ridge, water
from a nearby creek rose so quickly
residents almost had to be evacuated.

Down trees and power lines could be
found all over Botetourt County as well
as in Roanoke.

Several roads, including Frankin Road
in South Roanoke had to be shut down
because of high waters.

No one was injured from the storms.

transformer. That disabled the press
facility and halted printing. Today's

Greensboro. The Roanoke Times says

and newspaper racks as soon as possible
this afternoon.

morning.

Police say the robbery happened around
3 a-m.

armed robbery.

They say the suspect entered the Joy
Station on West Main Street around
10:30 last night and took off with an
unknown amount of cash.

No one was hurt.

Authorities say the suspect is a black
male who was wearing all dark clothes.
He's approximately five feet six inches
tall and weighs 130 to 140 pounds.

pieces after a fire at San Souci
apartments in Roanoke County.

Police say a child playing with a
lighter accidently set a mattress on
fire shortly after 11 o'clock last
night.

Four apartments were damaged.

The Red Cross gave those families a

place to stay for the night. No one
was hurt.

Boulevard was blocked off yesterday so
the town can replace sewer lines.

The closure begins at the rear
entrance to the Holiday Inn and
continues to Prices Fork Road.

There's a detour on Old Glade
Road so shoppers can still get to the
University Mall.

The road will be re-opened to one
lane each way in two weeks.

an additional five million dollars for
the project.

And the Colonel in charge told
Roanoke City Council that the Army

But Fitch says he doesn't need
