arrested the person who allegedly beat
and robbed an 89 year old man.

VO-NAT Sheriff's deputies say it


happened Monday morning at the Axton
home of Albert Giles.

The man said he awoke around
midnight to find an intruder inside.

The intruder hit him in the
head and face, tied him up and locked
him in a bathroom.

Giles freed himself several
hours later.

Deputies later arrested 50
year old Argentine Rocco Hairston.

He's being held without bond.

Police say vandals kicked in two
turkey cages and cut a water hose,
flooding a section of the building.

Eight turkeys drowned.

higher court.

Virginia Supreme Court Justices
yesterday heard arguments over whether

the Commonwealth's Attorney in Floyd
County can keep his position while
serving in the Army overseas.

Concerned Commonwealth's
Attorneys and Sheriffs filed "friend of
the court briefs" in support of Gordon
Hannett.

They fear the case could create
precedent that could put their jobs in
jeopardy.

He planned to continue managing
the office via phone and email from
Iraq..

But, instead, Circuit Court Judge
Ray Grubbs appointed an acting
prosecutor.

Hannett appealed.

A decision from the Supreme Court
is expected some time this summer.

some roofing work a couple of weeks
ago, when a brown recluse spider like
this one, bit him in the right arm.

Bova says he went home and took a
Benadryl, but the pain only got worse.

Doctors say brown recluse spiders

Torch Run.

Dozens of officers ran and biked
Route 460, carrying the Virginia
Special Olympics' torch through the New

their hardwork with a limo ride to
lunch.

School took a ride in a stretch
limousine ... a treat they earned by
hitting the books for the last fourteen
weeks.

Everyone who completed their
assignments each week earned "B-M-S
Bucks" ... and they spent them at an
auction of donated items last month.

The limousine trip to lunch at a
local restaurant was one of the more
popular items.

Educators came up with the program
to help the school improve its
"accredited with warning" status on the
S-O-Ls.

Police say Mills shot and killed

Mills after an argument at their home.

Virginia are back home with their
families.

Sergeant Ray Puckett of Daleville
arrived back in Roanoke along with
Sergeant Jay Agee A-G of Bland County.

The two have been serving in
Iraq... Puckett for eight-months, while
Agee A-G was there for 10.

They're thankful to be back, but
remember the men who were lost.
