VO-NAT In his first meeting with the World

Jewish Congress, the pope acknowledged
that the history of their relations has
been "complex and often painful."

But he says he's convinced of a
future of hope.

Since his election in April, the
German-born Benedict

has reached out to the Jews and
denounced crimes by the Nazis.

He says it's important that neither
side forget the past.

After reports of hearing a kitten
cry from a storm drain, rescue crews in
Miami rushed to help.

Firefighters tried going in after
the eight-week-old kitten and gently
coaxing it out.

When that didn't work, they used
water to flush the cat out of the
drain, and into a new, warm- and drier-
home.
