early this morning.

Officials say they were called to
a home in the 400 block of 11th Street
Southeast just before 3:30.

Crews had the blaze under control
in about a half hour.

Investigators are still trying to
figure out what caused the fire.

No one was home at the time.

Fire also damaged a Roanoke
restaurant last night

It happened around 7:45 at the

LaCove Restaurant on Cove Road.

Firefighters say some grease
caught fire in the kitchen.

They were able to put it out
quickly, and no one was hurt.

Officials estimate the damage at
10-thousand dollars.

injured in an accident in Roanoke
County.

It happened around 11:30 Friday
night in the 36-hundred block of
Chaparral Drive.

Roanoke County police say an
ON-duty officer's cruiser collided with
a Ford Expedition.

Authorities are NOT releasing the
officer's name, but they say both he
and the driver of the Expedition, Joyce

Crawford Hawthorne, were taken to
Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

Hawthorne later died.

There's no word on the officer's
condition.

Police say the passenger of the
Expedition was NOT hurt.

The accident is still under
investigation.

earlier this week in the disappearance
of an Alabama teenager- will remain in
custody for eight more days.

Aruba's attorney general and
others are denying reports that there's
been a confession in the case of
Natalee Holloway.

The honor student vanished May
30th- hours before she was expected at
the airport to end a five-day
graduation trip with classmates.

Holloway never showed up and now
there are conflicting reports
concerning a confession.

Kevin McBride.

Tyson lost for the third time in
his last four fights.

After the sixth round TKO, Tyson
says he - quote - doesn't have the
stomach - for boxing any longer and
most likely won't fight anymore.

The 38-year-old Tyson earned five
million for his final fight.

His record is 50-and-6 with two
no-contests.
