10 KMC Jackson-Live

The legal nightmare is over for pop
star Michael Jackson.

After seven days of jury
deliberations, the panel acquitted
Jackson of all counts in his child
molestation trial.

Many of Jackson's supporters say

they aren't surprised by his acquittal.

One fan says yesterday's verdict has
helped restore her faith in the justice
system.

However, prosecutors aren't making
any apologies.

Susan Roberts is outside Neverland
Ranch in Los Olivos, California and she
joins us now with an update.

MICHAEL JACKSON RETURNED TO NEVERLAND
RANCH AMID CHEERS FROM LOYAL FANS

...

ASSURED THAT HE'D BE SPENDING THE NIGHT
BEHIND THESE GATES AND NOT

BEHIND BARS.

(nat - "not guilty")

ON MONDAY, JACKSON HEARD THE WORDS "NOT
GUILTY" UTTERED 14 TIMES. THE

POP STAR WAS CLEARED OF ALL CHARGES
THAT HE MOLESTED A 13-YEAR OLD BOY,

PLIED HIM WITH ALCOHOL, AND CONSPIRED
TO HOLD THE TEEN AND HIS FAMILY

CAPTIVE.

JURORS SAY THE PROSECUTION FAILED TO
PROVIDE ENOUGH EVIDENCE, AND

THEY WERE NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE
ACCUSER'S MOTHER.

(SOT JUROR .5) - 18:28:22

"I disliked it intently when she
snapped her fingers at us. That's when

I thought 'don't snap your fingers at
me lady'".

(nat - cheers outside courthouse)

JACKSON'S ACQUITTAL WAS A MAJOR DEFEAT
FOR SANTA BARBARA D.A., TOM

SNEDDON.

BUT HE MADE NO APOLOGIES FOR PURSUING
THE CASE.

(SOT: TOM SNEDDON/PROSECUTOR) -

"You do the right things for the right
reasons. If it doesn't work out,

that's why you have a jury system. But
we did the right thing for the

right reasons."

(STANDUP BRIDGE)

JACKSON SUPPORTERS HAVE BEEN GATHERING
HERE OUTSIDE NEVERLAND ON-AND-OFF

THROUGHOUT THE TRIAL. AS YOU CAN TELL
BY THE SIGNS THEY'VE LEFT BEHIND,

THERE WAS NEVER ANY DOUBT IN THEIR
MINDS ABOUT JACKSON'S INNOCENCE.

(SOT: FAN) - 19:34:35

"We're so happy beyond belief. He's
finally proven innocent."

(SOT: FAN) - 19:39:51

"I never believed for one second that
he was guilty of molesting kids."

MONDAY EVENING...JACKSON'S FATHER, JOE,
GREETED THE FANS. HE TOLD THEM

HIS SON WAS IN BED TRYING TO REGAIN HIS
STRENGTH.

AND AS THE LATE NIGHT COMEDIANS PUT
THEIR STAMP ON THE VERDICT...

(MANDATORY COURTESY: "The Tonight Show

"Well it's over. Thank God Michael can
go back to being just a regular

guy."
