warning, authorities say a six- point-
four magnitude quake hit the region
last night.

in Altavista.

Wednesday Police say 18-year-old Jason Ellis
of Forest was riding an A-T-V in the
parking lot of a trucking company on
Pittsylvania Avenue around two o-clock
Wednesday.
That's when he reportedly lost
control and crashed into a parked
vehicle in the lot.
Ellis was flown to a local
hospital but later died from his
injuries.
Authorities don't believe he was
wearing a helmet.

thousands of spectators gathered on the
Norfolk waterfront for Harborfest.
It's an annual celebration of Hampton
Roads' maritime heritage.
This year, Joe Dashiell reports, the
center of attention was the Schooner
Virginia, a new vessel with historic
lines.

The Schooner Virginia had plenty of
company as she made her debut in the
Harborfest Parade of Sail. With a
flotilla of pleasure boats cruising
alongside, the vessel sailed up the
Elizabeth River to a new berth on the
Norfolk waterfront.

The original Schooner Virginia was
completed in 1916. Built to carry
harbor pilots to ships waiting at
anchorage, it was known for its
graceful lines, and generous speed.
It's namesake began to take shape two
and a half years ago, the first major
wooden vessel built here in 100 years.

and wider than the original, and while
it's equipped with modern conveniences
and technology, the schooner remains
true to the original design.

the crew first hoisted the sails.

OQ= Schooner Virginia will remain close to
home in 2005, and travel the eastern
seaboard in 2006 to promote the 400th
anniversary of Jamestown.
As the schooner and crew carry out a
mission of education and economic
development, they will eventually set
sail for international waters as a
goodwill ambassador for the entire
state.

Jamison Avenue and Seventh Street
They found Damon Presnell bleeding
from the stomach yesterday afternoon.
