accidentally shot himself.

minor injuries, after he picked up a
gun and accidentally shot himself in
the side of his head.

May 13 Police have now charged the boy's
mother, Marquita Muse with obstruction
of justice.
Investigators say she lied to them
about the incident to protect her
friend, who owned the gun.
The friend has now been charged with
possession of a gun by a convicted
felon.

moving along on time.

under- wraps for months while crews
remove the building's stucco and make
repairs.
The south lawn has been dug out
to make way for a new underground
extension.
Once completed, the wing will
house a reception area, cafe and

The wing's entrance will mimic
the front of the capitol.
Renovations to the Old State
Library, which was recently re- named
the Patrick Henry building, are
complete.
Improvements to the capitol,
Finance Building and capitol grounds
are set to be completed by December of
2006.

Salem every year to show off their
stables of horses. But as Grant

Jill Bolton and her family live in
Craig County, Her girls are home
schooled and must take care of the

care for the animals.

the campus at Roanoke College.

reached a confidential settlement with
United of Omaha Life Insurance over the
life insurance policy taken out on the
Intimidator.
The company had refused to pay
the $3 point 7 million dollar policy
because Earnhardt had not taken the
required physical before he died in a
crash at the 2001 Daytona 500. Judge
Kimberly Taylor ruled in favor of the
race team and chastised the insurer for
failing to provide key documents in the
case.
