American cow had the brain wasting
disease.

human health is not at risk.

The cow involved never made it into
the food supply because it was a
"downer," meaning it was unable to
walk.

The case is the second in the
U-S.

The first case, confirmed in
2003, involved a dairy cow imported
from Canada.

Officials say the current case
involves a cow already considered at
high risk of having the disease.

years and eight months behind bars.

this afternoon to 20 years in prison,
but the judge suspended 16 years and
four months of the punishment.

year old Betty Marie, on Route 460 last
June.

Before the sentence was handed
down, the husband and father of the
victims, David Sirry, took the stand

The group passed a resolution

authority recommends that those
homeowners consider installing a
