year long, up hill battle.

He's trying to gain closure to a
painfull memory.

One year ago today Joyce Sirry
and her daughter Betty were walking up
this stretch of route 460 in
Shawsville.

But on the way back from the post
office, the short trip turned deadly.

A lone shoe marked the area where
Joyce and Betty Sirry were struck and
killed by 22-year-old Christopher
Hight.

cause of a water main break yesterday
along the Salem Turnpike.

fifty years old.

The break flooded two nearby
homes and four bottom apartments in the

camp at Virginia Tech. But before they
left for Blacksburg, Billy Hicks and
his players got to experience the other
side of camp life.

They put on the 11TH annual Future
Knights camp at Cave Spring High
School, with all the profits from the
week going to the basketball program at
Cave to pay for new uniforms and
equipment for the team. The kids at
the camp got the chance to hoop it up
by learning from the Knight's coaching
staff and current team members, many of
whom went to the future Knights camp
when they were young.

joined up this afternoon at the Hotel
Roanoke for the 13th annual Wine
Festival.

A crowd of nearly one-thousand
got a chance to sample wines from eight
different wineries across Virginia.

Organizers say the festival is
growing at a steady pace, just like the
wine industry itself.

The festival also offered
educational classes to teach folks
