Newport News.
Now, it appears Chief Gaskins will be
reunited with the department, but for a
different reason.

that Chief Gaskins' estranged wife
swore out a warrant this afternoon
alleging assault and battery.

around 9:30 Monday morning at a home in
Newport News where Joe Gaskins was
present.

the home and the two got into an
argument.
Mrs. Gaskins told police that Joe
Gaskins pushed her.
She is alleged to have taken a tire
iron and smashed out windows and
headlights in his vehicle.
No one was physically injured, and
neither person wanted to prosecute at
that time.
But, today a Newport News Police
spokesman confirmed that Mrs. Gaskins
came to a magistrate around three
o'clock this afternoon and swore out
the assault warrant.
Late this afternoon, police in Newport
News had not served the warrant, and no
hearing had been scheduled.
We talked Larry Brown, a spokesperson
for the city, and this was his response
to the allegation. >>

supervisors approved a "traditional
neighborhood district."
The T-N-D will combine townhomes,
apartments, condos and single family

York courtroom, as the father of a baby
trapped in a stolen car over the
weekend, tangled with the accused
thief.

alleged thief after the judge released
him without bail.
He managed to get away.
Police say the thief stole the
vehicle while it was parked at a gas
station, not knowing that the child was

A pool party hosted by Redskins
star Lavar Arrington over the weekend
was marred by a shooting.
Investigators don't believe Arrington
was near the spot where James Sidney
was shot and injured when he intervened
in a scuffle, although they say he was
present at the party at the time. No
one has been charged in the shooting
and there are no suspects at this time.
Arrington released a statement today
and said he had no involvement in the
incident, but feels terrible about what
happened.
